My colleague has set up MSDE on his machine. I am only able to connect
to his machine via IP and not servername

Why is this? I want to use ACCESS as a fornt end and can't useing IP

You can set up an alias for his machine in the Client Network Utility.

name? If not, try running ipconfig /flushdns from a command prompt and
pinging again. If that still doesn't work, you need to touch base with
your network administrator.
